[white walks in from the direction of the sleep bay and, well, his presence is accompanied by his default emotions: that agitation and tiredness that's been lurking all week. what's new is the lingering loneliness and longing but anyway.

very unfortunate that seeing mineo automatically brightens his mood.]

[mineo's honestly vibing. he's just chilling and he's probably humming stupidly as he makes the food but then his head jolts up as soon as he gets those feelings -

he's happy to see white, of course he is, there's instant fondness and happiness but also. so concerned]

Why are you lonely?! What's going on?! What happened....?!

[he gives a start, as if he'd momentarily forgotten that fuck, mineo can feel everything? shoving all that down, wow.]

N-Nothing, you idiot! Endorsi and I were just... talking about stuff.

[NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! he's stubborn now, digging his heels in]

What? No—as in no, I didn't tell her. And I'm fine, so you don't need to make a big deal out of this.

[keeping his feelings carefully neutral]

[he's literally just in the middle of cutting some ingredients for curry but he'll pout aggressively at white]

If you're lonely, that's my business. And - the other feeling too. [the longing] If you wanna talk about it.

Don't look at me while you're holding a knife, moron.

[he stands there awkwardly as someone who's still not accustomed to talking about feelings that aren't just anger and bitterness?]

It's a butter knife.

[he cuts everything through pure determination to be honest but now he's just. huffing more unhappily. he wears his heart in his sleeve - his emotions share the same slightly frustrated feeling that's ultimately wrapped in care and concern for white]

... come on. What's going on?

[he shifts his weight, looking away. his walls crack at mineo's emotion; it's hard to hide how touched he is, every time he's reminded that mineo cares.]

... I told you, it's nothing. Just—doing some reflection or whatever.

[sengokus]

[ . . . . he just continues to chop the ingredients then but - there's a sense that most of his attention is still on white. he glances up on occasion, listens to him.]

... I have been too.

Would it be easier if we both shared?

[that gets white to look at him, a flicker of concern sparking.]

... Sure.

[sengokus]

[ah - the concern manages to get mineo's own emotions to warm a little bit, gently amused before he gives white a smile]

I'm okay.

[ . . . . and he is - but there is a creeping sense of both homesickness, of bittersweet feelings.]

... I was just thinking while I was talking to Endorsi last night too. About how we're kinda running out of time here.

... Yeah. She mentioned that.

Wow, nothing I say to either of you stays private at all.

S-Shut up! I got weird vibes from her, so I asked! She didn't say much beyond that.

[there's just a little bit of a laugh at that - he doesn't seem to mind. if anything, he's just amused and glad that they have each other. an appreciation for their friendship.]

.... heh. I just think I'll miss you both.

he doesn't know what to say to that, his emotions somewhere between surprised, touched, worried, and sad.]

[ . . . he huffs a little bit at that.]

[a little bit of amusement from mineo - but mostly guilt.]

... I should've made it clearer sooner. Sorry. You're important to me. [and he gives a smile, easy and honest] You really are one of the best friends I've ever had, White.

I don't like thinking about saying goodbye to you at all.

white's known, of course. mineo gives out declarations and gestures of affection like they're the air he breathes. but whether white wants it or not, there are lessons that have been beaten and broken into his skin and bones. to not expect that anyone could care about him when he has nothing to offer; to strive to be a pawn not yet worthless enough to throw away, because that'd be the best he could ever do.

he doesn't know if he'll ever really stop being surprised.

mineo's words earn a swell of emotion, warm and grieving all at once. honestly, it's overwhelming? all white can do to bear with the tide is press his hand against his face, and mutter—]
