[white walks in from the direction of the sleep bay and, well, his presence is accompanied by his default emotions: that agitation and tiredness that's been lurking all week. what's new is the lingering loneliness and longing but anyway.

very unfortunate that seeing mineo automatically brightens his mood.]

[mineo's honestly vibing. he's just chilling and he's probably humming stupidly as he makes the food but then his head jolts up as soon as he gets those feelings -

he's happy to see white, of course he is, there's instant fondness and happiness but also. so concerned]

[he gives a start, as if he'd momentarily forgotten that fuck, mineo can feel everything? shoving all that down, wow.]

[he's literally just in the middle of cutting some ingredients for curry but he'll pout aggressively at white]

[he stands there awkwardly as someone who's still not accustomed to talking about feelings that aren't just anger and bitterness?]

[he cuts everything through pure determination to be honest but now he's just. huffing more unhappily. he wears his heart in his sleeve - his emotions share the same slightly frustrated feeling that's ultimately wrapped in care and concern for white]

[he shifts his weight, looking away. his walls crack at mineo's emotion; it's hard to hide how touched he is, every time he's reminded that mineo cares.]

... I told you, it's nothing. Just—doing some reflection or whatever.

[ . . . . he just continues to chop the ingredients then but - there's a sense that most of his attention is still on white. he glances up on occasion, listens to him.]

[that gets white to look at him, a flicker of concern sparking.]

[ah - the concern manages to get mineo's own emotions to warm a little bit, gently amused before he gives white a smile]

I'm okay.

[ . . . . and he is - but there is a creeping sense of both homesickness, of bittersweet feelings.]

... I was just thinking while I was talking to Endorsi last night too. About how we're kinda running out of time here.

S-Shut up! I got weird vibes from her, so I asked! She didn't say much beyond that.

[there's just a little bit of a laugh at that - he doesn't seem to mind. if anything, he's just amused and glad that they have each other. an appreciation for their friendship.]

he doesn't know what to say to that, his emotions somewhere between surprised, touched, worried, and sad.]

white's known, of course. mineo gives out declarations and gestures of affection like they're the air he breathes. but whether white wants it or not, there are lessons that have been beaten and broken into his skin and bones. to not expect that anyone could care about him when he has nothing to offer; to strive to be a pawn not yet worthless enough to throw away, because that'd be the best he could ever do.

he doesn't know if he'll ever really stop being surprised.

mineo's words earn a swell of emotion, warm and grieving all at once. honestly, it's overwhelming? all white can do to bear with the tide is press his hand against his face, and mutter—]

he's a little surprised - that comes through the connection - followed by a spark of worry.]

Did I - say something wrong? Hey, c'mere.

[but he puts away the knife for a second, forgets preparing ingredients, and instead just wanders over closer to white with a frown on his face, moving to immediately pull him into a hug. that's automatic, that comes without hesitation. he feels white's emotions and even then....

all mineo can offer is the steady thrum of concern and care, of wanting to make everything better if he could]

[there's a pang of guilt, because mineo hasn't done anything wrong and already white is making him feel like he did. even so—it's warm. the hug, and white's response to it.]

[but he can't hide the affection that bursts forth. really, white feels like the idiot here.

still, he doesn't let himself relax into the hug. after a few moments, he lightly pushes mineo away and makes an attempt to wipe away his tears.]

[ah tsunderes.... mineo lets himself be pushed away - but only for a second. he'll catch white's wrists next if he can, trying to pull them gently away from his face so he can look at him eye to eye, emotions turning only fond and amused]

really struggling to meet mineo's gaze, given how embarrassed he is, and mineo might get the sense that white is sorely tempted to hit him right now... but eventually, he manages.
